A Nigerian named Agaranwa Pal Ezinne has emerged the overall best graduating female student with a First Class Honours Bachelor of Science Degree in Information Technology from the Accra Institute of Technology, Ghana.
Ms Agaranya who was part of the graduation class of 2019 beat her colleagues with a cumulative GPA of 3.97.
“My decision to study at AIT was not only because the university was adjudged the Best Technology University in Ghana for four years running by the Ghana Tertiary Awards, but also because of the impressive teaching and learning resources and the quality its academic programmes”, she said. AIT has also been awarded the Best International Student Friendly University in Ghana medal for a number of years and ranked the best private university in Ghana for four years running by the Ghana Tertiary Awards, becoming the preferred destination for Nigerians who seeks to further their university education abroad within the sub-region.
The 14th graduation ceremony is the 5th time that a Nigerian student has emerged the overall best graduating student of the university both in the female and male categories.
President of the university, Professor Clement Dzidonu in an interview stated that AIT has made great strides over the past years in offering quality internationally-benchmarked undergraduate and postgraduate academic programmes being delivered and supported by qualified academic staff made up of a number of PhD holders in various fields.
AIT has over the past four years graduated over 500 Nigerians in various fields including, Electrical and Electronic Engineering; Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration among others. A number of Nigerian students over the years graduated with Bachelor’s, Masters as well as PhD degrees from AIT.
Professor Edward Ayensu, the Chairman of the AIT Board of Trustees, speaking at the 14th graduation ceremony of the University which was attended by a number of parents and guardians of Nigerian students at AIT, announced that: the University for the 6thtime is graduating PhDs. “This major achievement of a university which is barely ten years old makes AIT the first private university in Ghana to successfully offer and graduate students on an internationally benchmarked PhD program. -This is no small achievement if put within the context of the fact that the PhD per capita of Ghana is extremely low”, he noted.
