Urhobo leaders on Monday spoke out against Mr Sheriff Oborevwori, calling him “the worst speaker” in the history of the Delta State House of Assembly.
“It’s embarrassing to watch him. Sheriff Oborevwori is always out of ideas. He is incapable of handling the perch of power bestowed upon him”
The leaders spoke on Oborevwori’s porous leadership and ways to restore the Delta State House of Assembly to its proper place”
” Sheriff Oborevwori is infatuated with power. He lacks the political imagination needed for the job”
They chided Oborevwori for making the Delta State House of Assembly a crude and unworkable place.
“Sheriff Oborevwori is defective ”
The leaders in a statement signed by the Chairman, Urhobo National Forum (UNF), Chief Matthew Odiete ranked the presiding officer of the Delta State House of Assembly low.
” The damage to the Sixth Assembly has been severe. Making him speaker of the 7th Assembly is a step backward ”
The leaders spoke on the performance of the Ethiope West lawmaker.
They praised her for demonstrating leadership and integrity.
“The Ethiope West lawmaker is an honest and honourable woman. She is a good leader and competent public figure”
The leaders applauded traditional rulers, top government functionaries and People’s Democratic Party (PDP) leaders in the state for choosing the Ethiope West lawmaker.
They hailed the Sixth Assembly for not exercising its constitutional power of impeachment and voting to change Sheriff Oborevwori.
“Sheriff Oborevwori is in the Delta State House of Assembly for all of the wrong reasons. He is a very difficult man to get along with”
The leaders commended members of the Delta State House of Assembly for tolerating the excesses of the current Speaker and taking impeachment off the table for the time being.
