Bauchi State Coalition of Women has appealed to the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC to conduct a rerun election to counter rigging.
Spokesperson of the coalition HAJIYA Fatima Umar and the State coordinator of the group Salamatu Ladan made the plea yesterday when they led hundreds of Women support groups to welcome the State Governor Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar to Bauchi.
The Women who carried banners and placards with written inscriptions, we have voted Muhammadu Buhari at the next level we now want to vote Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar in Bauchi to the next level ,INEC stick to your earlier election of conducting rerun election, We demand justice from INEC let our votes count in a rerun elections”
Spokesperson of the group reiterates their support to Governor Abubakar and asked INEC to reconsider it’s decision to continue with the coalition of result in Tafawa Balewa instead they should conduct a rerun elections in the interest of Justice and fairness.APC chieftain protests against continuation of Bauchi governorship result collation
“We opposed the decision of the Electoral body (INEC) to continue with the collation process of the governorship election results in the state which was earlier declared inconclusive by the State returning officer.
She said that the original result of the local government was carted away by thugs at the local government collation center adding that the result INEC intends to regenerate now is not acceptable by his party.
Fatima argued that the electoral commission lacked legal competence to reverse the decision earlier taken by the State returning officer Professor Mohammed Kyari to conduct supplementary election in the local government and the investigative committee sent to the state by the INEC national headquarters denied governor Abubakar camp fair hearing during its sitting as party agents were allegedly not invited to talk to them.
On her part Hajiya Salamatu said that in the interest of fairness and justice , the electoral body should conduct rerun election in Tafawa Balewa local government so that the actual winner of the governorship election will emerge.
You would recalled that PDP scored469,512 and
APC scored 465,453 which shows PDP candidate is leading with 4,059 in the results of 19 out of 20 local governments earlier announced by the State INEC headquarters.
