The Advanced Congress of Democracy (ACD) Hajiya Baheejah Mahmud the only Female Governorship candidate in Bauchi State has jettisoned her ambition and expressed support to the incumbent Governor Mohammed Abubakar of the All Progressive Congress (APC) ahead of Saturday’s governorship election,
Addressing newsmen today in Bauchi, the governorship candidate explained that the decision to step down for Abubakar was in consideration of his administration’s achievements and the need for the state citizens to give him another chance to take the state to the promised land.
She said among her 31 other contenders, only Abubakar expressed willingness to carry women along in his government hence her decision to discard her aspiration to support him.
Baheejah who asked all her supporters to vote for APC governorship candidate however said her party’s state assembly candidates would participate in the election.
” I joined the governorship race in order to empower women and youth so that they would not only be self reliant but also contribute their quota to development of the society. But after wide consultation, I decided to withdraw from the race to support Governor M. A Abubakar”.
