Obiano Reconstitutes Oil, Gas Committee

The Anambra state governor, Willie Obiano has inaugurated the newly reconstituted 11-member Anambra State’s oil and gas committee.
The Committee, with Engr Frank Edozie as chairman, was givenĀ among other terms of reference, to help the state develop a world-class Oil and Gas blueprint; promote and sustain rapport between Anambra State Government and line Federal Ministries, Departments and Agencies as well as to attract and keep records of investors in the State’s Oil and Gas sector amongst others.
Gov Obiano while performing the inauguration noted that the State has a very large deposit of gas, and that it was the objective of his administration that the state government has an Oil and Gas company with the required operational license.
He acknowledged the outstanding work done by former Chairman of the Committee, the late Dr Emmanuel Egboga in getting Anambra to be listed as an oil producing state and tasked the new committee to intensify efforts in that light.
The governor charged the committee to endeavor to rein in the oil company working at the Ogwuikpele community in Ogbaru Council Area and the Orient Petroleum Ltd, assuring them of his support.
The Secretary to the State Government, Prof Solo Chukwulobelu, in a remark, said the Committee was important as Oil and Gas constitute a major pillar of the economic blueprint of the Obiano administration, adding that it was reconstituted for greater efficiency.
The reconstituted committee was inaugurated at the Aguleri, Anambra East council country home of Gov Obiano, with Engr. Edozie as Chairman; Commissioner for Tertiary and Technical Education, Prof Theresa Obiekezie; the Managing Director of Orient Petroleum Ltd, Engr. Sunny Okoye; Commissioner for Works, Engr Marcel Ifejiofor and Barr Patrick Igwebuike.
Others are Prof Charles Ofoegbu, Dr Arinze Agbim, Engr. Gibson Okeke, Dr Ike Nwobodo, Engr. Aloy Attah and Engr Emma Offor.
In a brief remark, the Chairman -Edozie thanked the governor for the opportunity to serve the state, promising that with the composition of the committee, they would deliver.
