Workers of Anambra State Customary Court of Appeal and the State Customary Courts, yesterday, embarked on indefinite strike over the non-refund of the Housing and Pencom Fund deductions.

The Chairman of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria, Anambra State, Comrade Mark Ifezue, in an  interview with newsmen in Awka said there was a disagreement between the union and management of the State Customary Court of Appeal over the non refund of the deductions.

He claimed that the deductions made from the workers’ salaries were not remitted to either the Federal Mortage Bank ,Trust Fund Pencom or found in the account of the State Customary Court of Appeal.

Ifezue explained that when the workers found out that the money was not remitted into any of the relevant accounts, the workers then demanded immediate refund of the money.

The Union Chairman, pointed out that the matter had lingered for over two years now.

Ifezue said the union after series of demand of the refund, had no option than to convene a congress on the fifth of this month, where it was resolved that the workers of the Customary Court of Appeal and the State Customary Courts should stay at home pending when the money was refunded.
