A 44-year-old commercial motorcycle operator, Paul Edobor has allegedly abandoned his wife, Ugoma, after she gave birth to a set of triplet for him.

The 38-year-old Ugoma who hailed from Abia State, but lives with her husband, who hails from Irrua, Esan Central local government area of Edo State, have been married for 10 years and had been blessed with a boy and a girl in previous deliveries.

She said: “We both met in Lagos and we decided to relocate to Uromi. We have been married for 12 years now and we have five children all together now.”

The dejected-looking woman who came to the NUJ Press Center in Benin, with the triplet (all girls) solicited for help to care for her children.

She disclosed that she attended ante natal at a clinic, but gave birth to her triplet at a traditional birth home.

“My husband refused to show up at home and did not pick my calls. He ran away because he cannot take care of the babies. He left me when I was in my labour. After I have put to birth, I put a call to him but he refused to pick my calls,” she said.

She added that since her husband absconded, she and her babies have been living at the mercies of well-spirited Nigerians.

“All this time while he was away, people have been the ones helping me to the extent of buying me baby things.

“I have been going to the market places and churches with the babies to beg for alms. Wherever I go, people thanked God for giving me these babies,” she said.

Mrs. Edobor called on the state government and other well-meaning Nigerians to come to her aid to enable her take care of her babies.

“I want the government and every spirited individuals to come to my assistance to enable me take care of my babies,” she said.

She however pleaded for her husband to return home, adding that she has forgiven him.

“I want my husband to come back to me. I have forgiven him. We have been married in the traditional way therefore, there is no going back,” she said.
