The All Progressives Congress (APC) sacked Senator of Anambra Central Senatorial district, Mrs Uche Ekwunife, on Sunday said she must return to the senate come 2019.

Ekwunife, who was removed by the Enugu Division of the Court of Appeal six months after her swearing as the senator representing the  district in 2015, said the APC must produce the senator for the zone in the next year’s election.

Addressing party stakeholders of the district in Awka, Ekwunife said maintained that the party had all it would take to achieve the feat.

“Voting for an APC senator to Abuja in 2019 would be most beneficial to the people of Anambra Central as the zone would belong to the caucus of the ruling party,” she said.

She explained that although it was not yet time for her to formally declare her interest to run for the senatorial poll, she said the event was an opportunity to appreciate the party chieftains for their consistent support to her political aspirations since she ventured into politics.

“Without stakeholders, I would not have succeeded politically. Sometimes I feel indebted to all of you for the sacrifices you have been making to ensure my success in politics despite the stiff opposition we face.

“Another election will come in 2019 and it is necessary that we support APC which controls the federal government because belonging to the party that controls the central government will always attract the much needed dividends of democracy for our people.

“In the coming election, Anambra Central must give President Buhari 650000 votes and the only way we can achieve this is for all eligible voters to get their voters’ cards ready.

“No matter how you love Uche Ekwunife or the President, the best way to express that love is to vote for APC during the next election,” she stated.

Ekwunife and the incumbent senator representing the district, Chief Victor Umeh, had had protracted court cases over the district’s senatorial seat for nearly three years before Umeh was sworn in on January 18, 2018.
