48 Beggars Arrested In Kano

No fewer than 48 street beggars were arrested by the Kano State Hisbah Board in the month of February.
The beggars who were arrested within the metropolitan area of the state were said to have violated the state law that prohibits street begging in the state.
Malam Dahiru Nuhu officer in charge of the Board’s Anti Begging unit further disclosed that those arrested consists of 10 children and 38 adults.
“the arrests were carried out in areas around motor parks and hospitals. Although, the suspects were released after confirming that they were first time offenders but they were warned by the officers of the board. 30 missing street children (almajiri) were brought by good Samaritan for safe return to their various schools.
Dahiru who reminds those who engages in such act, that the penalty for street begging in Kano attracts a minimum of three months jail term urge them to engage in small businesses that would earn them incomes to Carter for themselves and those under their care.
