The Benue State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been urged to remain steadfast and focused towards winning victory at the polls come 2019 General elections.

A statement signed by the State Publicity Secretary, PDP, Bemgba Iortyom states that the party in Benue, Thursday, played host to the Zonal Working Committee and Ex-Officio members of the party for the North-Central geo-political region who were in the state to interact with party stakeholders.

The Zonal Executives were led by the Zonal Chairman, Hon. Theophilus Dakas Shan.

Addressing the party faithful, Hon. Dakas Shan commended the spirit of commitment and loyalty which he said has come to be identified with the Benue PDP, and urged them to remain steadfast and focused towards winning the 2019 polls.

The Zonal Chairman also praised the immediate past Governor of State, Dr. Gabriel Suswam saying he has been a strong and dependable pillar of support for the party.

While he charged the party leadership in the state to be transparent and fair to all in their running of the affairs of the party, he said those were the guiding principle of the new National leadership under the National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus.

He also assured Benue stakehokders of commitment of the National leadership to steer PDP back to power at all levels in Nigeria, through leadership that will be firm, transparent and fair to all.

The State Chairman, Sir John Ngbede, expressed gratitude for the visit by the Zonal Executives of the party, stressing that the visit will boost the morale of party faithful in the state.

Sir Ngbede declared that PDP in Benue is primed and ready to wrestle power from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) at the 2019 elections, maintaining that the State Executive Committee under his leadership will provide a level playing field for all aspirants seeking to fly the party’s flag at the coming polls.

Speaking separately on behalf of the party faithful in zones A, B and C senatorial districts, Chief David Amo, Rt. Hon. Cletus Upaa and Prince Obekpa respectively, admitted that PDP in Benue has learnt from the mistakes which led to its losing power at the 2015 elections, even as they reiterated the resolve of the party faithful to make the needed sacrifices to reposition for victory in the 2019 polls.

Speaking on behalf of members of the PDP Caucus in the State Assembly, Hon. Ianna Jato, hailed the quality of leadership being provided by the State Executive Committee of the party under John Ngbede saying it has served to revive the party and warm it back into the hearts of the majority of Benue people.

On behalf of the women, former Commissioner in the state, Mrs. Elizabeth Allagh, reiterated the resolve of women in the party to continue to keep faith with it till victory is won in 2019 while the youths through Comrade Tor-Tiv Nyaku, implored the party leadership to continue to steer the path of transparency in running its affairs.

Nyaku said the youths are determined to stand solidly behind the party towards its goal of reclaiming power in 2019.

The visiting Zonal Executive of the party comprised Theophilus Dakas Shan, Chairman, Maurice Tsav, Secretary, Samuel Gwomna, Treasurer; Pharm. Joel Adagadzu, Organising Secretary; Pharm. Hajia Nana Suleiman, Woman Leader, Arc. Suleiman Mohammed, Publicity Secretary, Barr. Isyaku Barau, Legal Adviser and Hon. Yakubu Bako, Ex-Officio Member.
