Custom Officer In Police Custody For Shooting One Dead In Jigawa

The Jigawa state police command through its spokes person SP Abdu Jinjiri has confirmed the arrest and detention of a Custom officer for allegedly shooting one person dead at Babura town of the state.
The deceased, Alh. Ummaru was said to have lost his life while trying to intervene between a driver and the custom officials whom were said to have chased the driver and caught up with him at Babura town.
An Eye witness said that, friends and family members gathered together immediately after Ummaru was shot and rushed him to the hospital but lost his life before they got to the hospital.
The development however, resulted into violence as some residence of the area went on rampage setting ablaze Custom’s offices and vehicles in the area.
The burning, however, did not stop only on the Customs as some business premises close to some of the Custom offices were also set ablaze.
Jinjiri who confirmed the incident said that troops have been deployed to the area and it’s surroundings to douse the tension.
