Government has been inundated with enquiries from different quotas concerning the rumours making the rounds that the Curfew within the Greater Jos – Bukuru Metropolis has been reversed to Dusk to dawn curfew, that is 6pm – 6am with effect from September 30th, 2017 to facilitate a peaceful celebration of the 57th Independence Anniversary of the Country.
Government wishes to state categorically that the information is false and without any element of truth whatsoever; it remains the handiwork of rumour mongers ill intended on creating confusion on the state of security within the Greater Jos – Bukuru Metropolis.
Jos has regained her peace since the improvement in security situation after the unfortunate rumour propelled incidence of Thursday, 14th September, 2017, which necessitated a relaxation of the curfew to 12 midnight.
The time for the curfew still remains 12 midnight to 6 am daily and has not been changed.
Government warns that henceforth anyone caught misleading the Public and perpetrating any fake information with respect to the state of security in the State in Public Medium, Social Circles and through any social media platform, would be dealt with in accordance with the law.
Government wishes to also assure all citizens that security operatives are alert and alive to their responsibilities, and will be quick to respond to complaints and information on any matter that is likely to be a threat to the peace being enjoyed in the State.
