Tragedy struck on Tuesday when a-27 year old Kalu Okoro was shot dead by a Vigilante man at Cubic lane in Awada, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra state.
Loading ...247ureports gathered that trouble started when one Anechukwu Anagor sought the services of vigilante members to arrest some thugs who were invited by his in law Nonso Nwafor to beat him up over a dispute between him and his wife.
It was in process of arresting the hoodlums one Godwin Obaji from another street came to the scene and started struggling with a vigilante man who was in possession of a pump action gun and was trying to obstruct them from arresting the hoodlums when the tragedy occurred said a source.
Nkeiruka Nwode, the State Public Relations Officer (PPRO) an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) who confirmed the incident said that in the process of struggling with the vigilante man his gun exploded and killed Kalu instantly.
The PPRO said that two persons have been arrested to include Odinaka Iroka (Vigilante) and Godwin Obaji in connection to the murder and would be charged to court for case of murder while the corpse of Kalu was deposited at Bex hospital morgue for autopsy.
