Political associates and supporters and friends of Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar has hold a special dinner in his honour to celebrate his appointment as Nigeria’s Ambassador to Germany.
The newly Ambassador was accompanied to Bauchi from Abuja by Captain Bala Jibrin and other political associates to a rousing welcome by his supporters at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa International Airport Bauchi.
Speaking in a keynote address, Chairman of the occasion, Senator Ali Wakili said that members of the national assembly from the state as well as all people of Bauchi State wish him over the ambassadorial appointment.
He reminded the appointee that he will face challenges as Europe particularly Germany grapples with the issues of migrants out of which Nigeria has a sizeable number of its citizens.
He also urge him to use his position to pursue important bilateral agreements between Germany and Nigeria especially in the area of education, technology and skills acquisition to help Nigerian youths.
On his part, an APC chieftain and close associate of Tuggar, Captain Bala Jibrin said that his appointment is apt looking at his wealth of experience in politics and other endeavours over the years.
He said that Tuggar will use his experience to enable Nigeria benefit from the economic strength of Germany as the country is the most economically advanced in Europe.
A former member of Bauchi State House of Assembly, Baba Suleman said that appointments always come with prospects and challenges, but Tuggar as an experienced individual will utilise the opportunity given to him to project and protect the image of Nigeria.
In his remarks,Tuggar thanked the people who gathered to express their solidarity with him over his appointment and promised to work towards improving relations between Nigeria and Germany.
He said that as an ambassador, he will build on the already existing and long standing relationship existing between the two nations.
