A Press briefing by Chief Ogbuehi Dike the National Publicity secretary of the United progressive Party (UPP) on the present situation of the party in Anambra State on the 17th August 2017, in Awka- Anambra State.

It is with utmost respect and the highest sense of responsibility and patriotism that I present to you the situation of our great party (UPP) in Anambra State.
It is a common knowledge that the national working committee (NWC) of our great party in an extraordinary meeting in Abuja on Tuesday the 15th of August 2017 at the National secretariat Wuye Abuja considered the report of an unfortunate and senseless rebellion by some misguided members of the acting state working committee (SWC) of our party in Anambra State which was carried out through a press conference addressed by Dr. Seylvester Igwilo, the former acting state chairman of our party.
At the end of that extraordinary meeting in our National secretariat Abuja, the National working committee (NWC) on behalf of the National Executive committee (NEC) took the following actions to Sanitize and Stabilize our party in readiness for the forth coming Anambra Governorship election of 18th Nov. 2017.
- The rebellious acting state working committee (SWC) of our party led by Dr. Sylvester Igwilo was dissolved and a caretaker committee shall be constituted immediately to take control of the (SWC).
- The UPP Governorship primary election scheduled to hold on Saturday 19th August, 2017 at Emmaus House complex 47, Arthur Eze Avenue Awka as was communicated to the independent National Electoral commission (INEC) via a letter signed by the National Chairman of our great party Chief Chekwas Okorie and Received on the 10th of July, 2017 shall proceed unhindered.
- The two Aspirants who has met all the requirements set down in the Party (UPP) guideline for the Anambra Governorship primary election has been screaned and cleared to stand for the election of Saturday 19th August, 2017.
For the Avoidance of doubt the two aspirants that has been cleared by the (NWC) of our great party are:
- Hon. Chudi Ofordile
- Chief Osita Chidoka
- The party shall follow very strictly the Guideline for the primaries and the delegate list as uploaded in UPP website as the authentic list that shall be used in the Anambra governorship party primaries on the19th August 2017.
We wish to assure loyal members of our Party in Anambra State that no member of the party who is innocent of this rebellion will suffer any sanction.
We therefore, call on all the good people of Anambra state to continue to support our great party for the total emancipation of the minority and the oppressed people in Nigeria.
We shall stand by our promises of self Determination, Restructuring, Referendum, Resources Control, State Police /Community Policing, True Federalism and
Unconditional Release of all Prisoners of Conscience if you give us your mandate on the 18th of November. 2017.
