GREAT OSIBE

The National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Chief Ralphs Okey Nwosu has berated President Muhammadu Buhari for hijacking his party’s ‘Change’ Slogan to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Chief Nwosu who spoke Friday at the 2017 ADC Congress/Gubernatorial Primary held at Hyton Hotel, Awka, capital of Anambra State, where Dr Barrister Paul Obianaso emerged as the party’s flag bearer in the November18, 2017 governorship race, said that APC used money and connivance of INEC to intimidate his party and made away with its ‘Change’ slogan despite a subsisting petition he wrote to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

He revealed that the unwholesome development came up after he had written Buhari in 2006 to intimate him on the unassailable change mantra of ADC which he said is what Nigeria needs to provide good governance and people-driven leadership.

The ADC National Chairman who was among the pioneers who founded APGA and largely built the party in the South East including Anambra State stressed that Nigerians are worse off with the lip service being paid to issue of change, attributing the restiveness and agitations by youths across the country to failed leadership of APC.

According to him, the failure of the Buhari-led Federal Government is as a result of inability to understand the niceties of the change copied from ADC, and pointed out that ADC has now adopted a new moving slogan ‘Arise and Shine’.

Nwosu who spoke at the event monitored by INEC’s three-man team led by Ebere Oti accused APC of providing inept and irresponsible leadership, adding that ADC is on a mission to restore hope in the country, starting with Anambra State, which he said has been denied democracy dividends for about 18 years of civilian democracy.

On the chances of ADC in the forthcoming Gubernatorial election billed for November 18, 2017, chief Nwosu noted that the picking of a God-fearing man and religious man (Obianaso) is the beginning of the ‘real thing’, adding that God is at work.

“We are here to pick a gubernatorial candidate to carry the ADC’s flag in the coming election. When he wins by the Grace of God, the mission to restructure Anambra State must have started.. ADC will give INEC the impetus to give Certificate to somebody that will work and do God’s work,” said Nwosu

He bemoaned a situation where successive governments have had to pay about N100 billion to contractors for shoddy jobs done when such contracting firms neither have office in Anambra State nor boast of up to 50 Engineers to justify the huge sum of money  being carted away.

Nwosu stated that an ADC government in the State will put an end to the tradition of each State governor having to rush to Abuja, the Federal Capital of Nigeria to share oil money and return home to waste it, pointing out the trend encourages emergence of crooks in leadership positions.

In attendance at the exercise include, the Arch-Bishop Augustine Nwodika (Presiding Archbishop of Throne Grace Church, Enugu, National Publicity Secretary of the party, Hon. Anayo Arinze who was the Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Ugochukwu Anere, Assistant National Youth Leader (South East); Comrade Tari Epero, Deputy Chairman of ADC in Bayelsa State  and   Engineer Akagbusi Ndubueze,  ADC’s Organizing Secretary in Bayelsa State.

Others are Paul Asika, Anambra State Chairman of ADC, Chuks Nweke, Anambra State  Secretary of the Party,  and  Hon. Mrs Uche Nwokeora, Women Leader,, Pastor Dom Attah, ADC Guber Campaign Manager, and Azubuike  Okeke, a former State Legal Adviser of UPP.
