A governorship aspirant in All Progressive Congress governorship (APC) Prince Donatus Okonkwo yesterday alleged that some defectors from other political parties were only in the party to blindfold the people with all manner of gratifications to obtain the party’s ticket which he said will spell doom for the party.

Okonkwo however cautioned members and delegates for August 26 primary election to be mindful of deceptions of ‘fake APC aspirants currently buying cars and building houses for party stalwarts just to clinch the party’s ticket to run under the platform of the party.

He said he was the original APC governorship aspirant as well a foundation member of the party and should be support to fly the flag of the party in November 18 governorship election, stressing that it would a disaster for the party, should they (fake) defectors fulfill their ulterior motives in the party.

Okonkwo whose campaign train has gone into the hinterlands in the  state to canvas for vote has took time to explain to the members of the party at the ward level why they should resist the temptation to choose those he described as not the original APC members of the party.

The APC governorship aspirant told delegates at Ihiala during his tour of the 326 wards in the state that his administration will attract people oriented development and that he would split Ihiala local government into 4 development centres in order  to bring good governance to the doorstep of the people at the grassroots, if elected governor.

He further harped on the implications of selling their mandate to strangers in the party emphasizing that PDP decampees in APC will meet their waterloo because the aborigines of the party know themselves.

At Ozubulu, Ekwusigo and Nnewi North local government areas respectively, Okonkwo still stressed the dire need for the people to identify with the original members of APC and not decampees from other political parties. He said even if they distributed N20 million and vehicles to delegates,  they should collect them but should not make mistakes that would jeopardise their future adding that defectors invaded APC to deceive the people with money.

Okonkwo described the decampees as ” use and dump ” politicians who according to him that deceived and frustrated the previous administrations.

He said the party’s governorship primary elections will be conducted with the secret ballot system and none of the moneybags will manipulate it  .

Okonkwo however assured the people of good governance and equitable justice, should he obtain the APC ticket on saturday and eventually becomes the governor on November 18, 2017
