This is as information available to 247ureports.com indicates that the one-time former governor of Anambra State and current Federal Minister of Labor and Productivity, Dr. Chris Ngige may have concluded plans to join the gubernatorial race in Anambra. This is against an earlier publication by this medium indicating that Dr. Ngige had endorsed one of the gubernatorial aspirants, George Muoghalu, of which Dr. Ngige had recently denied openly.
According to available information obtained through competent sources inside the APC in Anambra, the federal minister for labor and productivity, Dr. Chris Ngige has the urge to join the race and contest for the gubernatorial position. His clandestine activities show his interest. According to one of the source from Anambra south senatorial district, Ngige has been holding closed and opened door meetings with would be delegates and stakeholders of the party. Although the details of what was discussed at the numerous meetings are not readily available, it is believed that only prospecting aspirants engage in such meetings. This is according to the source who also pointed out that some of the aspirants had collected their gubernatorial nomination forms through proxies. The source told 247ureports.com that Muoghalu was the first to collect his nomination forms from the party secretariat, and interesting enough, the form was marked 002, and not 001. Indicating that a nomination form had either been collected or reserved.
Adding muster to an already soiled situation is the pageantry-like entrance of Senator Andy Uba. The arrival to the party secretariat with forty [40] Senators of the APC as escorts to pick his nomination forms sent shockwaves among the aspirants and within the party. The entrance was intimidating to the other aspirants enough to result in some of them folding their project in favor of Andy Uba’s project.
Our source points to the near certainty of Andy Uba’s victory at the APC gubernatorial primaries, as the chief cause for Dr. Chris Ngige desire to join the race to scuttle Andy Uba’s emergence as the potential leader of the party in Anambra. Andy Uba and Chris Ngige share a not so rosy relationship that stretches back to the dark days of governance in Anambra State where Chris Ngige pointed accusing fingers to Andy Uba as empowering his brother Chris Uba to orchestrate the burning of Anambra State properties and of kidnapping a seating Governor. Andy Uba has since denied being involved or aware.
It is for this reason Dr. Chris Ngige is determined to not to allowed the APC gubernatorial ticket to go the way of Andy Uba. Dr. Chris Ngige by his position controls and/or influences approximately 20% of the delegate votes. He may be the tipping factor required by any of the aspirants to win the party’s gubernatorial ticket.
But the generality of the stakeholders in Anambra APC appear unanimous in rejected the candidacy of Dr. Chris Ngige. Most of the stakeholder indicate willingly to actively work against the APC chance should Chris Ngige emerges as the gubernatorial candidate. They point to Chris Ngige as being the father of the party in Anambra. And “he should remain so”.
