Okowa Makes U-Turn On Government House Annex

Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State

Senator (Dr) Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State has cogitated on his earlier stance to completely abandon the Warri Annex of the state Government House actively used by his predecessors, describing it as a waste of resources, 247ureports.comcan authoritatively report.

Governor Okowa was quoted to have said that those working at the Warri Annex of the state Government House would be recall and redeployed to other Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) of government.

It was laughable Tuesday 7th February 2017 at the quarterly media interaction when the governor announced that the Warri Annex would soon come alive.

The announcement was linked by some people who said was due to the return of the former governor of the state, Chief James Onanefe Ibori, the ‘Ogidigbogbo’ of Africa and political godfather of the seating governor who just concluded his jail terms in faraway London and is back to country, Delta in particular to continue from where he stopped.

Briefing newsmen at the Press Centre, Government House, Asaba, Okowa said, “I want to announce to you that the governor’s lodge in Warri has been totally rehabilitated and renovated and it in good shape. We are hoping that before the end of this month it will be put to use and very soon you will find me also doing our governance in Warri area”.

It was learnt that the decision of Okowa to make the U-turn was the fact that the former governor’s abode is a few kilometre drive to Warri even as impeccable sources hinted that the state Government House has been moved to Oghara, the country home of the erstwhile governor from where directives would be doled out.

A Government House source said Okowa was unhappy with the return of Ibori whom he dread s much, “I can posit that Okowa wanted Ibori to remain in London till his tenure is over, but as it is now the political heavy weight has arrived”.
