The worst is yet to be heard from the Delta State governor, Senator (Dr) Ifeanyi Okowa who has abandoned civil servants in the state for a one month sabbatical leave to celebrate his 57th birthday with his family in the United States of America (USA).

Mixed reaction has trailed the sabbatical leave of the governor as some Deltans expressed dissatisfaction with it at a time when the economy of the state is indicating red to zero allocation and his refusal to pay civil servants.

“There is death and hunger in the state. People are finding it very difficult to eat three square meal and we have a governor who is travelling abroad to spend his leave”.

“If he is sincere enough the N1 billion security vote which Okowa pockets every month is it not enough to offset some workers’ salaries? Nobody asks him over that money. Why can he not sacrifice to meet the payment of salaries”, they asked.

They also lamented that since Okowa assumed office on May 29, 2015 the security situation in the state has collapsed, a situation that has given concern to Deltans.

247ureports.com had informed Deltans and Nigerians in general that Okowa had promised to pay the salaries of levels 1-12 upwards but it could not be ascertained if he fulfilled the promise before leaving the shores of the country.

A civil servant (name withheld) who spoke with our correspondent disclosed “Okowa is owing me two months salaries”, while another who is currently bedridden for over three months has not been paid her three months’ salary.

An appointee of the governor, on Social/New Media, Nelson Egware, who goes home with the bunk of money been generated from the Internally Generated Revenue and Federal Allocation had called the Chief Executive Officer (CEO)/Editor-in-Chief of this medium demanding to know who his correspondent is in Delta.
