The National Chairman of the Peoples Party of Nigeria (PPN), Hon. Eyiowuawi Razak, has given President Mohammadu Buhari-led All Progressives Congress (APC) an underhanded punch, as he recently stated that “to me I will score Buhari very poor. If you look at security which he said he is doing. Before he came on board, we have Boko Haram and by then the former President Goodluck Jonathan has been able to push them to the lowest ebb before he left office”.
“Today, we have Fulani Herdsmen who have become more dangerous, we have the Niger Delta Avengers who are destroying the economy of the nation, and we have the IPOB. If you come to the south, you see kidnapping on the rampant and Boko Haram have not gone, they still kill till date”, he pointed out.
He stated this in an exclusive interview with 247ureports.com in Asaba, Delta State after a stakeholders meeting aimed at harmonizing with party members and caving a way forward for the party in the next political dispensation.
He said Buhari has done nothing in terms of security, “if you look at the aspect of corruption that he said he is fighting, you will find out that he is doing little because he is fighting members of the opposition. And if you find out what he is fighting them for, if you go into his closet, you will find out that he is doing the same thing”. Ask him what he is doing with the security vote.
He carpeted Buhari for his inability to purchase new weapons, “up till now he has not bought a single gun or any ammunition to fight Boko Haram or any terrorist group. They are still using the ones bought by the former administration”.
On the economy which has been crippled by the militants, the PPN chairman said, “Today, we know how much they buy a bag of rice a year ago and we know how much we are buying it today. We also know how much they are selling petrol today. All we have been getting is tax, reaping from where they have not sown and putting more hardship on people and salaries is nothing to write home about. It is a very poor outing for Buhari”.
Responding to a question on whether his party would do better when given the opportunity, he said “I assure you, if we come to power within six months, we will give more than a million job and it will not be from the national coffers but a stimulation which they can do but they will not do it. For the first time during the 2011 election, we won a senatorial, House of Representatives, House of Assembly, chairmanship and Councillor seats in Ogun State then. It is our dream that in the next three or four years, we will go back to the peak”, he assured party faithful and Nigerians.
He berated President Buhari’s sectionalism, “for some time now, we have been hearing that they have been giving empowerment to people. Where? All we have been hearing is either Kano, Adamawa or Sokoto States. What is wrong with the south-west, south-south and the south-east? He asked.
He blamed the insurgents in the north east on the northern leaders who refused to call their people to order when it all started, “today, the governors of Bayelsa and Delta States are calling on the Avengers to stop but during Jonathan’s administration, they refused to call Boko Haram to stop. They killed this nation and we will not allow them to further kill this nation”.
He recall that during the last federal government-led by former President Jonathan, Nigeria was reckon with as one of the largest moving economy in the world but it has since crashed under one year of President Buhari’s government, picketing his ministers who are wrongly given portfolios, “look at people like Fashola and Amaechi, all we have are round pegs in square holes”.
He called on Nigerians to key into PPN political ideology which is aimed to put smiles on their faces.
Similarly, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain in the state, Hon. Deighan Macauley said, “Buhari has not helped the situation, one year in office has Buhari commissioned any project? And what of the price of petrol, has it come down? What about food items in the market? Hunger everywhere”, he bemoaned.
