A governorship aspirant seeking the ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Arch. Austine Ilenre Emuan, has said that the tax system of the administration of the governor Adams Oshiomhole, in Edo state is against the rent instead of wealth.
Emuan said this yesterday at the APC national secretariat, Abuja after picking his expression of Interest and Nomination on forms.
He said if given opportunity he is going to raise more funds to augment the falling federal government allocation in the state.
“In Edo state they want to pay tax, is not as if they don’t want to pay tax, but they are rebelling against paying tax today because of the way it is at the moment we are taxing rent, we want to be able to tax wealth, this is the reason why we are going to create a lot of wealth.”
The governorship aspirant added that he would tackle the state problem base on three major developmental philosophies which include; Capillary Democracy, Bi-culturalism, and Moral Economy.
He lamented the present system that breed terrorism and other social vices because of the huge inequality that existed among the peoples, which said his theory of moral economy is going to addressed. He stressed that the Capillary Democracy would take power to the people while the concept f bi-culturalism is utilising culture to create wealth in the society.
He also explained that his administration will revive the moribund state industries through bail-out as well as provide jobs to the teeming unemployed youth of Edo state.
