Sex Scandal Rocks Imo Girls College Owerri

Imo Girls College, Owerri, along Okigwe Road, a girls secondary school that was built by Governor Rochas Okorocha over a year ago has been enmeshed in sex scandal.

This followed allegations by students and staff of the school that there was palpable fear among the teachers that the school was becoming a breeding ground for female cultism.

The staff and students who alerted our correspondent on the condition of anonymity said that the sex scandal had assumed alarming proportion with the alleged involvement of one of the principals, who is a priest.

Our sources alleged that the students engaged in lesbianism among themselves. They also alleged that the students who engaged in this practice usually came to school on time, about 6:30 am, when there were usually no students in the school.

“They usually cluster in their groups and engage in the unwholesome practice by fondling and smooching themselves”, one of the sources said.

They also said that the students also engaged in the act when there were no teachers in their classes, and they would cluster and put their heads on their desks and indulge in the act.

They expressed fear that the most worrisome aspect was that many of the students who indulged in the act were JSS2 students who joined the school last session. They said it was their senior students who introduced them to the act, even as they said that the JSS2 students were dangerously involved in the act, and that they were also recruiting new students into the act.

They expressed the fear that the practice could breed cultism in the school, saying that if the girls had a greater number, and perhaps become emboldened, they could begin to confront teachers and form a secret group to protect their interest by standing against any teacher who confronts them or condemns them and also intimidate the students who are not in their groups.

Our sources added that the security officials in the school have been advised by some of the teachers to ensure that any student who comes to school before 7am is not allowed to enter the classrooms but should stay with them at the security post until when the school opens for the day.

One of the sources added that the matter had been reported to the principal who dismissed it as mere allegation.

She also alleged that one of the school principals who is a Reverend Father was involved in the sex scandal, saying that the principal indulges in sexual practices with some of the girls.

She said that the principal usually stays with the girls after school hours and during school hours, stressing that the principal leaves school about 6pm everyday, and that while lessons are going on for the students some of them would escape to his office where they indulge in sexual activities.

She added that the girls who are involved in lesbianism also practice their acts in the office of the principal, whom she said is the person shielding the students.
She added that the students are becoming emboldened as they are alleged not to show any more respect for the principal.

But speaking with our reporter in his office, the school principal who was accused of indulging in sexual acts with the students, Rev Father Hyacinth, debunked the allegation, saying that noting like that happens in his school.

When our reporter asked him that he was accused of having sexual knowledge of the students, he denied the allegation and said that he is a Reverend Father and could not indulge in such acts.
