Anambra people have roundly condemned the destruction and defacing of billboards belonging to the candidate of the APGA in the Anambra Central senatorial election, Chief Victor Umeh.
Umeh’s campaign posters and billboards have been continuously defaced and destroyed by persons believed to be agents of his opponent.
Some of the billboard around the state in lonely sports were destroyed, while other simply had cans of paint splashed on them to blur or completely cover Umeh’s pictures.
The special assistant to governor Obiano on Social media, Chief Ifeanyi Aniago who noticed that it was a worrisome development also called for decorum from politicians, so as not to overhear and set the state on a dangerous path like what has been witnessed in Rivers State.
Anuagi said people should emulate people like Obiano who even though he won the governorship seat has still warmed his way into the heart of his opponents like Ifeanyi Ubah and Dr Chris Ngige who continually shower him praise.
Some other commentators also condemned the destruction of billboards and posters belonging to political opponents, saying that politics should be a friendly game.
Chimedu Ilo, said, “I condemn this in totality . That I don’t like Umeh will not make me spoil his billboard rather I might campaign against him.”
For Fegge youth forum they stated that “it us unfair , they should not try this again. After all victor umeh is one of our brother.”
But Okoye Francis said, “This is infantile propaganda… Umeh will send his boys to destroy his billboard, go to the media and shout ” Peter Obi”.
