Operatives of the Explosive Ordinance Department also known as Anti Bomb Unit of Enugu state police command Saturday, recovered successfully from a building site an unexploded ordinance otherwise known as UXO suspected to be part of the civil war left over’s buried on the ground in the war affected areas.
Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ebere Amaraizu disclosed this in a press statement issued Sunday.
According to him, the object was recovered from the building site located around Nigeria Television Authority (NTA), Hostel axis in Ogui, Enugu North council area of Enugu state afternoon when workers at the building site made the discovery.
He said that the worker on sighting the suspected object promptly alerted the operatives of the state police command who also arrived promptly at the scene for the evacuation of the unexploded ordinance.
The PPRO said the area has been rendered safe by the operatives of Explosive Ordinance Department as builders have returned to continue their construction at the site.
It could be recalled that the state police command through its public Relations Department have been sensitizing members of the public on the need not to tamper with UXO when found either during farming, on road or even at the building constructions sites amongst others and when found, the command should be promptly alert to ensure that such object is evacuate and area render safe with their equipments.
