Operatives of Enugu command of Nigeria police force have arrested one James Okoh and Victor Uchenna Okefie both said to be undergraduate students in one of the state universities in the southeast (name withheld) for alleged murder of Mrs Stella Uhuo.
It was gathered that the deceased Mrs Uhuo had contacted one of the suspects James Okoh a final year sociology student of the said University and hails from Amata in Afikpo local Government Area of Ebonyi state whom she had known for too long that she would arrive Enugu from United States of America where she had gone for vacation 14th November, 2015.
Having known the Okoh for very long time, and usually assist the deceased in cab activities and other commercial errands, she however informed him that he would conveyed her to Abakiliki to deliver some luggage’s given to her by some friends in United state of America.
On the said day, Okoh came to the Airport with his friend identified as Victor Uchenna Okefie in a Volvo car alongside some family members of the deceased who came to welcome the deceased.
On arrival at the Airport, personal luggage of the deceased was said to have been put in the car brought by the family while the ones to be taking to Abakiliki were loaded into the boot of the Volvo car with registration number LAGOS EKY 855 CY.
It was further gathered that the family members had allegedly left with the personal luggage of the deceased while Okoh, his friend Okefie left with the deceased and some luggage to Abakiliki. Along the way, Okoh and Okefie diverted the car from the busy Enugu Abakiliki Expressway to another road at about 10 am of that fateful day, and at that juncture it became obvious to the deceased that something is wrong.
After the suspects drove the deceased to unknown location, they attempted to dispose the deceased all the luggage as contained in the car but, showed resistance which lead the suspects to murder her. When the Okoh and Okefie ensured that she has given up ghost, they quietly and smartly brought her to a dust bin located near Enugu/ Abakiliki Expressway and dumped her body there and left with the luggage and ransacked all the items contained therein including some dollars, male cloths and iPads Phone amongst others and fled.
The police spokes person, DSP Ebere Amarizu has confirmed the incident. According to him, since the commission of the dastardly act last year, operatives of the command had been on their trail until 29th January, 2016 when James Okoh was arrested in his hostel room at Ebonyi state while Okefie was trailed to his parent’s house at Ajaokuta in Kogi state on January 31, 2016 where he was also arrested.
Amaraizu said investigations revealed that the deceased have been helping Okoh one of the suspects for many years back before the incident and that was why she had the trust of calling him to convey her as usual to Abakiliki and Unknown to her that Okoh and Okefie had perfected arrangement to take her to the great beyond.
The suspects according to the PPRO, are regretting their actions as they have confessed that they have no intention to kill the deceased but rather wanted to collect the luggage and escape but she resisted them and that led to beaten her up to submission but unfortunate she died in the process.
