…Calls on security Agents to investigate, Arrest Him
Press Statement
The chairman, Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP Bro Felix Obuah, says its attention has been drawn to a media statement emanating from the State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Mr. Davis Ikanya, alleging plot by members of our party to eliminate some selected chieftains of the APC.
To the best of our knowledge and for record purposes, there is no such plan, and we also vouch that no member of our great party, the PDP, has contemplated or has any reason to carry out such action, especially now that all our attention is geared towards sustaining the hard earned prevailing peace and total development in the State.
We strongly condemn this damaging step and deliberate plot by Mr. Ikanya and the APC leaders to paint our party in bad light, all in their quest to cause disaffection, social and political unrest in our State, apparently irked by the outcome of the Supreme Court Judgment, which gives victory to our Party and Governor Wike.
The PDP chairman, in a press statement, affirms emphatically that the allegation is false, ill-conceived and unsubstantiated, principally aimed at diverting the attention of the security agencies from the atrocities and violent inclination of the APC leaders and members, which is evident in the recent illegal arrests and assaults carried out on some members of the PDP and those perceived to be supportive of our party in the local government areas.
The PDP, as a responsible and absolutely democratic institution, has not and cannot at this time of celebrating her success at the Apex Court allowed herself to be distracted or engaged in destructive politics. Our concern now and always is to strive to offer to the people of Rivers State good leadership and development. It is therefore meaningless to also divert hard earned resources and precious time into joining issues with the APC that is full of incompatible, irrelevant and combustible propagandists.
While calling on the law enforcement agencies to immediately investigate Mr Ikanya’s grave and misleading allegation, capable of destabilizing the State, the PDP reiterates that it values life and will not do anything in disregard of its sanctity.
The PDP chairman, Bro Obuah also calls on the general public to discountenance Mr Ikanya’s malicious and unfounded allegation, urging the Police and the State Security Service to investigate and charge him accordingly, for false information and incitement.
