How FERMA Was Run Aground By Eng. Ezekiel Olajide And His Team

The roguery, corruption and impunity that characterised the operations of FERMA under Engr. Ezekiel-Led board were so massive that some contractors were said to have died as a result of pressure from banks that extended them facilities with which they executed and completed FERMA projects without any payment.  We learnt that some contractors who used their houses and landed properties as Comforts and Collaterals {C & C} to secure facilities from Banks have lost such properties to the banks as a result of their inability to repay the credit facilities and loans they collected from banks even though the said contracts have been completed, Job Certification Notes handed out by FERMA officials and provisions for money made for their payments, yet the contractors were not paid.

Despite its huge debt profile, the Engineer Olajide-led governing body found it more self-rewarding to compel the former Managing Director to provide the members of the governing board with perk of office such as official vehicles, permanent guest houses with complements of cooks, gardeners, drivers and other domestic staff.

Aside these goodies packaged for the board members amidst FERMA’s huge debt profile, Hundreds of millions were alleged to have drowned in hotel bills for frivolous activities.  Although the Managing Director of the Agency earlier objected to some of the demands, it was learnt that Engr Olajide devised a devious means of setting him up as a way of cowing him to do his bidding cashing in on his purported closeness to the former President GEJ.

What could have caused FERMA’s inability to pay contractors?  Is it that FERMA has no budgetary allocations or could it be that the purported N150B and another N50B SURE-P fund allocated to it were mere rumours?  One could be compelled to ask.  FERMA in 2013 alone received about N200B as yearly Budgetary Allocation and another N50B as SURE-P Intervention Fund.  Despite these huge allocations, FERMA has performed abysmally worse and their debt profile may rank among the highest by any government agency to their contractors.  ZERO POT HOLE SCHEME initiated by FERMA was a conduit of fleecing the tax payers’ money.  The man alleged to be in the helm of all these impious and evil act of deception, manipulation, loot, roguery and impunity is a self-styled man who claims to be as much more closer to Heaven than anybody around former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan is Engr. Ezekiel Olajide Adeniji who as well fronted for President Goodluck Jonathan as the Osun State Chairman of President Goodluck Jonathan Presidential Council.

Ironically, despite the huge resources and monies entrusted to Engr Jide as he is fondly called to prosecute the political promises he has bragged about, it became very amusing that the man in question could not deliver his own Ward nor Local Government Area Council – ILA Local Government Area to the man who gave him all and pledged to make him one of his closest ally if he returns back as the President.  Engr Olajide could be described as the biblical false prophet who continued to assure the Israelites of God’s presence even when God’s presence has left them when they were in captivity as a result of their worship of other strange gods and negligence of Yahweh’s ordinances.  Engr. Olajide who prides himself as an oracle of God foisted himself on President Jonathan as a decent man with impeccable integrity held sway on certain juicy positions while still reassuring President Goodluck Jonathan of God’s unfailing hand upon his candidacy come 2015 President Election.  A deceptive assurance to enable Engr. Olajide hold tight his prey for more cash inflow to his private pocket.

Engr. Olajide, although a member of the inner caucus in the villa severally schemed around other positions such as replacing Diezani Madueke, Minister of Petroleum under former President Jonthan in view that the president had already agreed to the idea of dropping Diezani should he win the 2015 election.  Beside the Ministry of Petroleum, Engr. Olajide was allegedly perfecting plans to becoming either Minister of the Federal Capital Territory or Minister of Works.  This we learnt prompted Bala Mohammed, the immediate past Minister of FCT to confront him inside Villa when they met and warned him to steer clear of such intention and plans.

Engr. Olajide as well allegedly tried to cause disharmony between former President Jonathan and Tony Anineh by claimed that shortly before his appointment as Board Chairman of FERMA, that Tony Anineh withdrew N3billion from FERMA Account to prosecute Edo State Election.  He as well claimed that Tony Anineh had no electoral value that Jonathan was just condoning him {Tony Anineh} because of his old age.   Our investigation revealed that Engr. Olajide was in the habit of stirring rift and rancour among party men and women, ministers and other close associates of Jonathan in an intention of benefitting from the chaos he created.  He went about boasting how strongly connected he was with Jonathan.

We learnt he further claimed he was the reason former President Goodluck Jonathan scolded Mike Ogiadomhe, his former Chief of Staff who Olajide claimed denied him access to Jonathan at one point.  He claimed to have saved the job of former SSA to the President on MDG Mrs Precious Kalamba when intervention of former Chief of Staff to the former President and the First Lady could not remedy the situation; claiming as well to have influenced the appointment of Hon. Gbenga Elegbele as DG National Sports Commission, unilaterally influenced the appointment of the National Secretary of PDP, Oliseh Metuh, convinced GEJ to appoint Rasheed Olaoluwa as BOI MD/CEO and former IG of Police, MD. Abubakar who flew with him to his home town on chopper.

He once told those seeking favour-for-a-fee from him that his position as the Assistant Pastor in the Villa Chapel has made him more close to Jonathan than the First Lady.  He claimed that Jonathan himself called him to request his assistance on some very critical State’s issues.  It was further alleged that Engr. Olajide was among those who severed former President Goodluck Jonathan and former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s relationship.  A source told us that Engr Olajide told his confidant that it was Obasanjo that brought Burunji Kashamu to PDP South West and not even Jonathan. He was as well alleged to have worked against Senator Iyiola Omisore, his closest friend during the 2013 election claiming that Omisore stole when he was Senate Committee Chairman on appropriation.  He was quoted to have told some of his associates that Senator Omisore with all his stolen wealth cannot match him, especially in deciding the political affairs of Osun State and that was why GEJ handed over the political mantle to lead the affairs of the party in Osun State.

Our investigation revealed that Engr Olajide does not spare money when it crosses his way.  He spends as one who never sweated to earn it.  Aside claiming he spent a whooping N50m in burying his late father over 8 years ago, he still plays the good father to his family by sending his children to some of the best schools in the world, especially America.  His son who is in the same Aviation School with the son of former Chief of Defence Staff, Alex Badeh we learnt receives monthly stipends of $90,000.  His spending sprees have earned him the name ATM {Automated Teller Machine} among his kinsmen in his hometown.

AMONG ENGR. EZEKIEL OLAJIDE’S MANY SINS INCLUDE:

a}   Official corruption leveraging on his official position as the Board Chairman of FERMA

b}   Promoting political corruption and interference in the affairs of FERMA such that FERMA became a route through which excess money was mopped up and diverted for political activities and promotions.

c}   Advanced over N33m to selected Staff of NIMET when he was the DG without same amount being retired

d}   Non remittance of VAT and Withholding Tax to FIRS by NIMET under Engr. Olajide

e}   Diversion of Computers and Digital Cameras purported to have been purchased for Obudu Cattle Ranch

f}   Diversion of the money meant for provision of automatic weather observation station when he was the Ag DG of NIMET.

In the light of the new anti-corruption wave dusting the faces of  all the corrupt Strong and Mighty, it is expected that the Buhari-Led government and the anti-corruption agencies will wade in immediately to probe all the allegations of corruption and impunity perpetrated by the leadership of Engr. Ezekiel Olajide Adeniji, especially as it relates to the N150B Budgetary Allegation and N50b SURE-P allotment vis-à-vis their inability to pay Nigerian Contractors the huge debts they’re being owed by FERMA.
