Be Loyal, Shun Corruption; Ikpeazu Tells Newly Sworn In Commissioners

Abia state governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu has sworn in 20 commissioners comprising 3 women with a charge to shun corruption and be loyal to his administration.

The commissioners sworn –in include Chief Eboh

Ihekwereme-physical planning; Stanley Etche-Petroleum, Chima

Mgbeke-Poverty Reduction, Hon. Uzo Azubuike- Agriculture; Mr, Bonny Iwuoha- Information; and Hon. Eziuche Ubani- Works.

 

Others were former Deputy Chief of Staff to the Deputy Governor, Charles Ogbonnaya- Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs; Henry Ikoh- Industry, Obinna Oriaku- Finance; Ebo Duke Iheukwumere -Physical Planning; Prof. Ikechi Mgbeoji- Education; John Ahukanna- Health; and Chinwe Nwanganga –Sports, Hagler Okorie -Youths; Osita Igbe-  Housing; Uche Ihediwa- Lands and Survey, Gab Igboko – Environment and chief Tony Ezebuiro- Public Utilities.

 

Also sworn in were 3 three women; Nnenna Obewu-Transport; Chinedu Brown- Women Affairs; and Kate Enwereji – Trade & Investment.

 

Addressing the commissioners shortly after they had

taken their oath of office at the Michael Okpara Auditorium, Umuahia,

the governor urged them to shun sentiments which will not help the state and promised to support the new commissioners to perform.

He reminded them that their appointment is a privilege as the state boasts of many qualified men and women who could occupy the same position if given a chance.

Ikpeazu said; “Abia is in a hurry to jump to the next level and I urge you to be partners in the liberation and upliftment of the state.

 

He warned that he would not entertain disloyalty and vowed to

maintain zero tolerance to corruption in his administration of the state.

The governor urged the Commissioners to be team players as no one ministry is superior to the other, stressing that his administration will lay emphasis on the five pillars of agriculture, environment, commerce and trade, oil and gas to drive the economy of the state.

While responding on behalf of his colleagues, the new commissioner for Finance -Obinna Oriaku who described their appointments as a call for service expressed gratitude to the governor for finding them fit to serve and pledged to do their best.
