The Restoration Legacy Network ( RELNET), a political group based
inYenagoa, the capital city of Bayelsa State, has raised serious
suspicion over the sudden turn around by the former First Lady, Dame
Patience Jonathan to support the second term bid of Governor Henry
Seriake Dickson.
In a statement jointly signed by the Coordinator-General of the group,
Sidney Olotu and the Secretary Alaowei Okubotin, they expressed
worry about what the real intentions of the former first lady are.
“Are they genuine or are we headed back to the dark old days when the
State Government Treasury was seen as an extension of her personal
safe?” the statement read.
While declaring their readiness to work earnestly for the realisation
of the second term bid of the incumbent governor under the platform of
the People Democratic Party ( PDP), the leadership of the group, in
the statement said the antics of the former first lady, Mrs Jonathan,
is a potential danger which if not nipped in the bud may send the state back to the dark old days.
They however used the opportunity to caution Governor Henry Seriake
Dickson, to be careful how he relates with the former first lady, noting that her sudden turn around and support will not add any value
to his electoral fortune.
While also advising the governor to remain steadfast as he is already
commanding the needed followership that will secure victory for him,
they warned Mrs Jonathan to stay away from the Dickson campaign and
allow the Restoration team focus on the job of enlightening the Bayelsa electorate.
