Says Bail-Out Fund is not a gift to the states
Move on Nigeria a political action group that promotes democracy and good governance has in a statement issued to the press and signed by its National Coordinator Mr. Clem Aguiyi urged President Buhari to do everything within his power to avoid being Obama’s mistress and that of the West especially now that they are romancing and enticing him as a beautiful bride.
The group asked the President to look inwards to the solution of Nigeria’s problems instead of running to the West with a wish list that doesn’t come free at the end of the day.
The group noted that since the election of Buhari he has made frequent foreign trips and is now schedule to be Obama’s guest. The US trip and invitation coming on the heels of the US Supreme Court ruling on gay marriage which Nigeria rejected is an issue of concern as gay marriage is central to Obama’s foreign and domestic policy.
‘During the 2015 presidential campaign it was speculated that part of the APC romance with Europe and America was the promise by the later to pass the gay marriage bill which the PDP dominated National Assembly rejected with the tacit support of the then president.
The gay right proposal will also top the agenda of PMBs meeting with Obama: Will the president accept Obama’s gay rights policy? Will he accept the proposal for Nigeria to retrench workers, cut spending on capital expenditure , increase taxation and remove subsidy on petroleum products?
The President must not accept any policy that Nigerians at home will reject no matter how nice they are clothed. Nigeria is a rich country and can make better progress except for bad ,inept and corrupt leadership.
President Buhari given his reputation for integrity can make a difference by retaining his spine against corruption. Mr. Aguiyi warned that the West will always put their national interest first while looking for African leaders that will serve as their whore and mistress whom they will use and dump.
The Group also faulted the claim by the Federal Government that it is giving so-called bail-out to insolvent states in Nigeria to help them pay workers’ salaries describing it as spurious.
Answering questions from Journalists, Mr. Aguiyi berated what he called the culture of double speak that has become the identity of the present administration. He condemned the situation where the presidency engages itself in official cover-up speaks to the tendency of the administration towards blackmail and outright fallacies .He censured the Federal Government noting that what it called a Bail-Out was an entitlement to the states from a combination of money left by the previous administration in the Excess Crude Account and that which recently accrued to the Consolidated Revenue Fund. According to him, these moneys are constitutionally required to be shared at the behest of the states through Federation Account Allocation Committee and therefore could not be correctly referred to as a bail-out. In his opinion, he maintained that the presidency is playing to the gallery after it had come out to claim that the treasury was empty.
Supporting its earlier position that President Jonathan left a solvent economy and need to be commended , the group said that the presidency in a desperate attempt to cover its lies forgot to coordinate well with the office of the Accountant General of the Federation resulting in the drama and show of shame to which Nigerians have been treated in the last couple of days.
It strongly decried what it described as insincerity on the part of the new government, given its desperation to sustain its narrative of missing money. It made reference to the statement credited to the Ekiti State governor, Ayodele Fasoye, to the effect that the federal government could not be getting a share of the “bail-out” . The governor had earlier gone on his twitter handle to deny the so called bail-out plan questioning, ‘how come the FG is getting a share of the “bail-out”. Is FG also broke?
The Group called on the President to focus his anti corruption search light on the governors and relationship between lawmakers and the agencies they claim to over sight
Most of the governors stole funds from capital projects , embezzled recurrent expenditures and security votes and borrow beyond their capacity in a bid fulfill the fantasy of marrying foreign wives, execute lavish weddings , buy private jets and live like kings while workers salaries are not paid. The president should be concerned sitting at NEC meetings with some of these elements, the statement said.
