About ten people are feared dead in Garkida of Gombi local government
area of Adamawa state today (Tuesday) following a bomb blast carried
out by a suicide bomber at the cattle market in the area.
Reports from the area said several people were injured in the attack
which shocked many who had thought the Boko Haram insurgents were
becoming history.
Mallam Sadau a cattle dealer who said he narrowly escaped death
lamented that there should be more security in areas recaptured from
the insurgents else its like starting the fight all over again.
According to him, during the confusion, many people lost their money
and other valuables.
And only during the weekend, renewed attacks on some villages of
Madagali local government area has seen several persons killed and
others injured.
At Ajiya Wagga village, about nine persons were killed and others
injured following an attack by Boko Haram insurgents.
Reports have it that many people had to flee their homes even when
they had just returned from sojourning somewhere else.
According to one Sunday Warga a fleeing resident, the gunmen attacked
their village in the middle of the night causing panic all over the
place.
Confirming the incident, chairman of the council Maina Ularamu called
on government to as a matter of urgency provide them with security.
The Police Public Relations Officer In-Charge Adamawa Command said
they heard what happened but declined further comments saying only the
Army spokesman was in a position to clarify issues.
