PPA senatorial candidate in Abia South, Dr. Chukwuemeka Okwuonu has abandoned his party to team up with the All progressives Congress, APC.
Okwuonu who made the declaration to join the APC at Obingwa council area, vowed to mobilize efforts to ensure that the party dislodges the PDP in the state.
“APC would employ every possible means to make sure that it provides an alternative in 2019 by wrestling power from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in the state.”
On why he joined APC instead of the ruling PDP in the state, Okwuonu said APC remains the strongest party to fight corruption in the country.
While receiving the former PPA senatorial candidate into the party, Abia state chairman of APC, Hon. Donatus Nwankpa said his party has caught a ‘big fish’ with Okwuonu’s defection.
Nwankpa who was represented by the Party’s Welfare Officer in the state, Chief Emeka Onugha added that Okwuonu’s wealth of political knowledge, would be useful to the state and the country at large.
The ceremony which attracted APC faithful from the area saw Okwuonu being presented with an APC membership card, 10011902 AB1/ OB1.
