The police in Kano have arraigned 67 persons for their alleged involvement in electoral offences during the March 28 presidential and National Assembly elections.
The Public Relations Officer of the Kano command, Mr Magaji Majiya, told a news conference in Kano on Thursday that the suspects were apprehended at various locations during the elections.
Majiya said that the suspects were arrested for electoral offences such as breaching of peace and snatching of ballot papers.
He said that the police recovered from the suspects some weapons such as knives, swords, sticks, matchetes, bows and arrows.
He, however, commended the people of the state for cooperating with the command during the elections, saying that it was conducted peacefully in the state.
“The police have equally exhibited a high level of professionalism in discharging their constitutional responsibilities during the elections,’’ he said.
He called on the people, especially the youths, to be cautious in the manner they celebrated Gen. Muhammadu Buhari’s victory at the poll to avoid accidents.
