The campaign organization of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abia state has accused the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Dr. Alex Otti and his party of celebrating the March 28 defeat of President Goodluck Jonathan by his All Progressives Congress (APC) counterpart, General Muhammadu Buhari.
The party also accused the ex-bank chief and APGA members of resisting every effort made to revert to manual accreditation through the use of incident forms when card reader machines failed in some polling units in the state.
According to a press statement signed and made available to journalists by the Deputy Director Media and Publicity, Abia PDP Campaign Organization, Ebere Uzoukwa, the party accused Otti of working for the APC while he claimed to be supporting President Jonathan.
The statement reads: “We have been alerted to the ongoing celebration by Dr. Alex Otti and his supporters in the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Abia state since the announcement of the March 28 presidential election results by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) which returned Gen. Mohammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner.
“Such celebration by Otti and APGA members who before the March 28 election had claimed to be working for the re-election of President Goodluck Jonathan explains their insistence on the use of card reader accreditation after the machines failed in many polling units.
“Every effort made towards reverting to manual accreditation through the use of incident forms as directed by INEC was frustrated by Otti and his supporters apparently to sabotage Abia votes for President Jonathan.
“This latest outing and show of shame by Otti and supporters has clearly given credence to earlier position that the ex-banker was truly working against President Jonathan while claiming support for him.
Hence it is always difficult for a leopard to change its spot, the real Otti is now unmasked to Abia electorate and Nigerians.
Today, the same Otti has resorted to dance naked in the market by encouraging his supporters to celebrate President Jonathan’s loss after working against the use of incident forms to disfranchise enthusiastic voters and supporters of Mr. President in Abia state.”
