There was yet another botched attempt by a faction of members of the
Adamawa State House of Assembly to impeach the Speaker Rt. Honourable
Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri in the early hours of Tuesday (today).
The group had gone to the state Assembly as early as 6:00am but found
the gates under lock since the House has gone on a one month recess in
preparation for the forthcoming elections.
When they could not gain entry into the House, they left and addressed
members of the government house crew.
Their spokesman Honourable Jerry Kundisi alleged among other things
that the Speaker had tried coaxing them into impeaching the governor
but to which they refused.
The members eleven in number also claimed that the Speaker has not
been going out to campaign for the PDP and they added that since
Barrister Ngillari became Governor, the Speaker has not taken them to
congratulate the Governor.
But in a swift reaction, spokesman of the legislators Honourable Adamu
Kamale said instead of accusing the Speaker, the eleven members should
blame themselves.
According to Kamale the said eleven members comprise of seven APC
members and four PDP members who failed to obtain the ticket to come
back to the House.
He pointed out that unlike the fourteen members who are loyal PDP
members, they have their loyalty to the PDP.
The house spokesman alleged that the Governor gave the eleven members
N200 million directing that they must impeach the Speaker at all cost.
According to Kamale, the Governor is doing anti-party activities by
inducing the eleven members with government funds to achieve his
personnel interest and not the PDP.
