Information reaching 247ureports.com from Abia State indicates that Mobile Policeman attached to All Progressive Grand Alliance [APGA] gubernatorial candidate, Alex Otti shot at protesting youths while at a campaign stop on Monday near Umuahia – resulting in the injuring of an unarmed youth – Obinna Okeiyi. According to available information, the shooting of the unarmed youth immediately caused the four clans of Ikwuano to erupt into a chaotic mood. Obinna is presently battling for life at the Federal Medical Center in Umuahia
It was gathered from eye witnesses accounts that violence ensued when some youths of Ikwuano resisted an attempt by the APGA Guber candidate, Alex Otti to force his way into the regular community Monday Prayers Summit organized by some Pastors and the clergy in the community.
A clergyman with an Anglican communion in the area Reverend Charles Madu, who spoke on the issue pointed accusing fingers at Dr. Alex Otti for making a forceful attempt at attend a spiritual gathering with political motive. He lamented why the APGA Guber candidate couldn’t write to notify the organizers of the event before coming.
The Reverend also blamed the Policemen and the Soldiers that are attached to Alex Otti for shooting sporadically when they were barred from entering into the venue of the prayer. The Reverend warned Politicians to resist the urge of forcing themselves over the people.
In response to the shooting, it was gathered that some restless Ikwuano Youths resorted to burning of Tyres around Isiala Oboro, singing war songs and threatening to embark on a trip to Umuahia to burn down Alex Otti’s campaign office to avenge the shooting of one their own.
Our efforts to reach Alex Otti’s’s and the APGA team proved abortive but an APGA member from Arochukwu who spoke on the condition of anonymity, regretted the action by the policemen and Soldiers.
