Ahead of the March 28 presidential election, a group, the Jonathan –Sambo Grassroots Ambassadors of Nigeria, (JOSGAN) says it has embarked on an intensive mobilization of Ndigbo for the re-election of President Goodluck Jonathan.

Addressing newsmen in Aba, Abia state, Anambra state Secretary of the group, Barr. Ebere Uzoatu, said there was every reason for an average Igbo man to vote for Jonathan.

“Jonathan has been trying on the federal roads, in the past two to three months; SURE-P has been doing a wonderful job on our federal roads. The order day, I was in Enugu; they have started tarring all the roads from Umunneochi to Ubakala, Umuahia, that section of the Expressway is good now. Jonathan means everything to Igbo man. Apart from the above, look at the issue of security which he is seriously fighting, look at the economy he is trying to rescue from final collapse, he need to tidy up those things and he can only do that if he is re-elected.  These should make people from this part of the country vote for Jonathan at the polls.”

Uzoatu added Jonathan should be re-elected to enable him implement the recommendations of the National Conference, which he stated would enhance the status of Igbo man in Nigeria.

He enumerated some projects which the Jonathan administration had embarked in the South East to include the second Niger Bridge, the reconstruction and upgrading of the Akanu Ibiam Airport in Enugu to international status, the ongoing road rehabilitation works among others.

Describing Jonathan as a true democrat who had done a lot to unite the many ethnic groups in the country, the group commended Jonathan for establishing the Almajiri’s education system.

In his speech, national secretary of the group, Barr. Ogolo Alexander said the group was formed in 2012 from another group, Jonathan Goodluck Ambassadors of Nigerian (JOGAN) whose aim was to mobilize people for Jonathan when he was deputy governor, to become the governor of Bayelsa state.

Ogolo who represented the national chairman of the group, Chief Festus Bestman said after Jonathan became the president of Nigeria; the need arose to change the name and structure of the organization to be in tandem with the time.

He disclosed that the aim of the organization was to sensitize people across the country to support the re-election of Jonathan and Sambo.

The national scribe alleged that Jonathan’s main opponent, General Mahammadu Buhari was not a democrat as military blood still runs in his veins, adding that he lacks the capacity to deliver the needed dividends of democracy to Nigerians.

“General Muhammadu  Buhari (rtd) who is Jonathan’s major opponent is not a democrat, the military  blood still runs in his veins, so, he has nothing to give the people of Nigeria because he  is not a democrat and  he has no experience in the democratic setting.”
