Pandemonium broke out today in Makurdi, capital city of Benue State during the visit of the Presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress, General Muhammadu Buhari and his running mate Osinbajo to the State.
Our correspondent witnessed the fight between the thugs who were mobilised by one of the aspirants laying claims to the APC Guber ticket in Benue over their mobilisation fee to attend the event. It was also gathered that the youths and the organisers had earlier settled for N800 per person, where the later failed to comply, leading to the fight where the youths attempted to bring down the podium.
According to John Hwande, APC Youth Leader in Benue State who spoke to our correspondent after the intervention of joint security task force of Police, Armyand Civil Defence, the crisis which was caused as a result of the inability of the members to pay about 200 youths who attended the rally was as a result ofcrisis facing the APC in Benue State and inability of the APC Governorship flag-bearer to carry members of the party along.
He said the scuffle among the youths ensued when they refused to attend the rally due to injustice and domination of the party by a few individual in recent times where the organizers resolved to hiring crowd which they have no money to pay at end of the day.
