The bid to the National Assemblly by All Progressicves Grand Alliance (APGA) is a gambit aimed at wasteing the votes of Ndigbo, who require to be in a larger bloc in the National Assembly to better the lot of their people.
These view was canvassed by the Vice Chairman of the Senate Committee on Power, Senator Chris Nwabueze Ngige , who is seeking to return to the Senate as a ranking senator , on the platform of APC in the forth-coming February 14, 2015 polls.
A ranked senator is a multiple-term senator who can contest for privileged positions in the Senate, including Chairmen of Standing Committees and Principal Officers of the House.
Ngige made the declaration while addressing over 50 traditional rules from Anambra Central Senatorial District at the Palace of Igwe of Ifite Dunu, Dunukofia Local Government Area (LGA)on Sunday.
‘There are only two National Parties in Nigeria today and all meaningful aspirations to the national Assembly should come from these two’ Ngige said, noting that any voting outside these two national parties is to deny Ndigbo a voice in the National legislature.’
Ngige a former governor of Anambra State went further to say that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has so much enmeshed themselves in crisis arising from indiscipline and greed that today there is no known candidate for the party in the Anambra Central Senatorial District, because more than on person are laying claim to the single ticket.
‘You have a man who has been to the senate before and failed woefully, and yet there is another woman who have been to the House of Representatives two times before under different parties claiming to be the candidates in one of the traditional PDP cheating techniques.
Ndigbo should therefore vote massively for the All Progressives Congress (APC) and all their candidates in the Senate and House of Representatives elections ,so as o jointly get themselves out of the lot they have found themselves in the 8thNational Assembly.
Illustrating his scorecard, which published version was distributed to the monarchs, Ngige noted that he has sponsored 1 2bills and co-sponsored 3o bills out of which two have become law and other are different levels of progress.
He also noted that as Deputy Chairman of Senate Committee on Power he has been able to attract a lot of constituency projects, including transformers in every community in Anambra Central, injector station, health centres and boreholes.
Also highlighted is employment generation, scholarships awards for secondary and university students numbering close to 4,000 and street lights in strategic locations in the seven LGAs in the district.
Ngige’s campaign tour of the constituency continues with Njikoka LGA today.
