Alhaji Abubakar Tijjani, a member at the Borno State House of Assembly, representing Maiduguri Metropolitan Council (MMC), presented metal detectors to several youth groups to beef up security around crowded places within the Maiduguri metropolis.
He said the devices were provided to some selected groups of youth, who voluntarily conduct stop and search, in order to strengthen security at markets, shopping malls, Juma’at mosques, churches and political campaign offices or any public gathering.
Tijjani, who also distributed sanitation materials to some five youths groups as a motivation for frequently embarking on environmental sanitation in their respective communities, urged all beneficiaries to make judicious use of the items.
A set of electric power generator was also donated by the state lawmaker to a set of youths from Fezzan ward of the Maiduguri metropolis, who provided a borehole in the area as their community service.
