More and more people who are residents of mubi in Adamawa State
have been leaving other parts of the state and returning to their
erstwhile abode.
These people had earlier been forced into exile by the Boko Haram
insurgents who had killed and maimed so many people and destroying
property in their wake.
Sorry, there are no polls available at the moment. Our Correspondent reports that people who were hitherto displaced
persons became more confident in going back following the return of
the Emir Alhaji Abubakar Isa who went back to Mubi last Friday
December 12 following the recapture of the business city from Boko
Haram.
As if it was the tonic the displaced persons wanted, people are now
trooping in droves back to Mubi while major parks in Yola the State
capital has become a beehive of movement.
The insurgents had taken over seven local government areas, Maiha,
Mubi North and Mubi South, Michika, Madagali, Gombi and Hong but the
brave Nigerian Armed Forces have already entered Michika towards
Madagali – while the boko haram terrorists are said to be totally weakened by the
fact that three of their armoured tanks (stolen earlier from the
Nigerian Troops) have been destroyed.
On arrival at Mubi, the Emir was taken round the palace by some palace
officials to see the damages himself.
The Emir had been in Saudi Arabia and was the Amirul hajj for Adamawa
State when the insurgents took Mubi.
In his comments shortly after the Juma’at prayers at the Mubi Central
Mosque, the Emir called on residents to see what happened as one
willed by God.
He called for sustained prayers to God for mercies and lasting peace
in the Emirate and the nation at large.
Shortly on arrival in Mubi, people began shouting Baba ya dawo
(meaning daddy is back).
Most people who commented said, they were pleased by the Emir’s return
and expressed the hope that all will be well in the days to come.
Meanwhile, there were still decomposed human bodies yet to be picked
for burial even though the state Emergency Management Agency (ADSEMA)
has promised to quicken the cleaning of the bodies and fumigating the
town.
