There was commotion at the secretariat of the Peoples’ Democratic

Party (PDP) Yola on Monday when security men stormed the place to

chase away the supporters of the suspended State Chairman and

Secretary Chief Joel Hammanjoda Madaki and Barrister A.T. Shehu

respectively.

Our correspondent who visited the secretariat was chased away by the

stern faced security men who are said to be following a directive

from the National body.

According to a party supporter who was too angry to give his name,

“just can’t fathom the whole thing and we claim to be a democratic

country”.

He stressed that when they came to the secretariat, stern looking

security personnel stormed the place and started harassing them asking

them to vacate the place or face dive consequences.

Sources close to the suspended party leaders however said both

chairman and the party’s’ secretary have gone to Abuja to protest what

they see as injustice and maltreatment.

It would be recalled that shortly after the PDP primaries in the

state, all has not been well as former EFCC boss Malam Nuhu Ribadu

emerged the governorship candidate in Abuja while six others vying for

the post were left in the cooler in Yola.

This did not go down well with PDP supporters in the state who felt

they were short charged by the National body and the alleged role

played by the presidency who imposed Ribadu on the party barely one

week after defecting from the All Progressives Congress (APC).

As at the time of this report, the vice chairman of the party Alhaji

Jingi Rufai is being recognized as the chairman.

Meanwhile, many stalwarts of the PDP are finding their way into other

political parties.
