“Soldiers Are Now Patrolling Chibok” Says Fleeing Resident Of Chibok

The sudden fall of the popular town of Chibok to the men of the violent Jihadists group, the Boko Haram brought shock to the wider communities outside Borno State of the implications to the general security of the remainder of regions in Nigeria. Within less that 48hours, the local forces in Borno aided by the Nigerian army was able to retake the town in an early morning surprise raid on the terrorist of Boko Haram. The town was retaken on Sunday – and remains under the control of the Nigerian forces.

In talking to some of the residents of Chibok who had fled the hometown for safe havens in Askira town, 247ureports.com gathered that the Chibok remains under the control of the armed forces but the residents remain apprehensive to return to their homes.

According to a fleeing resident of Chibok, Mala Madu, who revisited Chibok and went back to where he was taking refuge in Askira town, said: “Chibok town is being controlled by soldiers now.

“Though there is still tension among of us that witnessed the emergence of Boko Haram into Chibok days ago.

“I even thought that I won’t survived the attack. If not that God had spared us our lives, we would have been killed by Boko Haram.

“They (Boko Haram) just came shooting sporadically with their armoured tanks. I saw them trooping into the town. Some of them were on vans while many were riding motorcycles.

“It was yesterday night, some soldiers came and informed some of us who fled to Askira town, though many did not stop there.

“So, this morning I went back to Chibok to see things for myself. And the town is being patrolled by soldiers. But there were only few people in the town. We thank God were alive”.

Mala Madu is a trader. He operates a shop at the Chibok market prior to the attack by the Jihadist terrorists. According to him, the markets at Chibok are closed and the entire town remain deserted. “Only a few ones are staying with soldiers there. And all businesses were shut down since the day when Boko Haram attacked the town”.

Mala Madu is married with three children. His wife is from Askira town. He is presently being catered for by his in-laws.

As Mala Madu existed the town of Chibok, the soldiers told him that he should tell others that their town is safe now.
