N84bn Debt: Group Berates Fayemi, Urges Support For Fayose

The Ekiti Democratic Coalition (EDC) has described the N84bn debt left by the immediate past government of Dr Kayode Fayemi as alarming, saying; “Ekiti people should not relent in praying for the new government of Dr Ayodele Fayose, because the task before him his daunting considering the State messy financial status.”

Rising from its meeting in Ado-Ekiti on Saturday, EDC, in a statement issued by its Coordinator, Comrade Aderemi Olaleye said “only a visionless and wicked government will plunge a State into such a huge debt that cannot be repaid until year 2020.”

The group, which sympathized with Governor Fayose on the challenges of governing Ekiti State and delivering on his electoral promises, added that; “we know that it is very daunting task for a populist governor like Fayose to be able to deliver on his electoral promises, bearing in mind the huge financial mess the State was plunge into by the immediate past government.

“However, we are sure that Fayose, as a man of destiny will get help from God and he will succeed.”

While hinting on the possibility of seeking intervention from financial regulators in the country on the huge loans, EDC said there was need to know how the huge loans were granted by the financial institutions, and whether or not due process was followed.
