*Begs Imolites To Forgive Him For Giving Them Okorocha As Governor In 2011
An apex leader of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, in Imo State, Chief Martin Agbaso Fridayformally defected to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, declaring APGA as being dead in the state.
This is even as Agbaso passionately pleaded with the people of the state to forgive him for the mistake he made in giving them Owelle Rochas Okorocha, a man he did not know very well, as the state governor in 2011.
Addressing the national vice chairman of the party and the state working committee of the party at the party’s state secretariat, Owerri, Agbaso said he left the party with about 98 per cent of the faithful in the state, saying that what was left of the party after Rochas left had now joined him to the PDP.
The former APGA leader disclosed that he was deceived by Okorocha’s outward appearance as a genuine philanthropist when he paraded his Rochas Foundation College as one of his good deeds.
He said he returned to the PDP because the party remains the only one that holds the address to the state government house.
Agbaso also apologized to the PDP for collecting the address to the government house from them in 2011, promising however to make amends by deploying all his strength and resources to ensure the party wins the 2015 elections.
He vowed to mobilize support for President Goodluck Jonathan, who he said had transformed the country to be better than it was in 2011.
Welcoming him to the party, the national vice chairman of the PDP (South East), Col. Austin Akobundu said he and many other members of the party were now very politically fulfilled for receiving Agbaso back and described him as a foundation member of the party who only left because of the injustice meted out to him.
He urged anyone who left the party as a result of injustice meted to him or her to return because the PDP was now a very decent party, where everybody was treated with dignity.
The PDP boss announced that the National Working Committee of the party had already granted waiver to Agbaso to pursue his political aspiration in whatever way he wants.
