The mass exodus of people from their ancestral homes to a temporary abode in search of peace is a signal that hunger and famine may loom in the state as farming which remains the predominant occupation of the people of the state was relegated due to the unabated crisis bedeviled the state barely two years ago.
Various communities were sacked while others deserted their homes over threat of attacks, No fewer than twenty communities take refuge in the neighboring villages while scores were killed in the renewed clash between Fulani pastoralist and Eggons.
The unfolding conflict emanated from a siege laid by Eggon on Fulani boy leading to his death, This heighten the skirmishes that is about consuming the entire state,In Nasarawa north,Arikya community with a population of over 200 homestead was attack and many houses destroyed beyond recognition.
This compel neighboring Eggon communities to seek for refuge in Nasarawa Eggon, The headquarter of Nasarawa Local Government, while people other than Eggons are running to a safer place.
Villages of Alogani,Uggah and Mankwar,Jibil communities along the riverine area of Plateau state were deserted, According to the community leader of Oron Ake,Other communities displaced are Assakio,The headquarter of Lafia East Development Area.
Mai Akuya as of press time,an Eggon community was also a Sodom as Eggons take refuge in neighboring village, women and children flee to Nasarawa Eggon for the safety of their lives and properties,Angwan Rere and Akurba communities populated by Eggon also experience low population.
Tudun Adubu, An Eggon settlement was destroyed beyond recognition by people suspected to be Fulani’s, The operation was extended to Angwan Mamman, Angwan Hamidu and Angwan Shuiabu were attacked by Fulani’s.
The Eggons in reprisal attack sacked Daddere town, An estimated homestead numbering over 100 excluding lock-up shops were razed by fire, Reliable sources reveal that Abagu community, A Tiv settlement was sacked by people suspected to be Fulani pastoralist.
In Agyaragun Tofa community of Lafia Local Government majority of the residents went on exile following a threat of attack by Fulani mercenaries, The people of Adogi has since last week vacated their ancestral abode to Lafia and other villages for safety.
The persistent movement of goods and properties potent great peril to the future of the state as people abandoned their abodes, It could be recalled that the state was plunged into chaos during farming season and is occurring again at the moment people are about harvesting their farm produce, The unabated crisis is at its climax even when the state government organized a peace summit with selected stakeholders.
The inactions of some stakeholders not attending the peace summit is a clear testimony that the violence which rock the state barely three years has political undertone.
