The Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU) of the Nigeria Police in Aba, Abia State has arrested two suspected armed robbers at Osisioma Ngwa Junction along the Enugu —-Port Harcourt Expressway.
According to sources, the two suspects identified as Frank and Egesie who are in their early 30s, snatched a Toyota Corolla car from its owner at Owerri, Imo State and drove towards Aba. Acting on a tip off on the incident, security agents in Imo state alerted their counterparts in Abia state.
In response to the security alert, Commander of the CTU, Aba, Muazu Ismail, a Superintendent of Police swiftly mobilized his men who mounted a stop and search operation at the Osisioma Ngwa junction and intercepted a car at about 12 midnight and arrested two of its occupants.
A police source hinted that the particulars of the owner of the stolen car were found with the two suspects.
He told our correspondent that Police also recovered assorted items such as mobile phones and an undisclosed amount of cash from the suspects who are now in police net for undergoing investigation.
As at the time of filing this report, attempt to get the reaction of the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO),Abia State Command, Geoffrey Ogbonna proved abortive as his mobile number was unavailable.
