The ruling All Progressives Congress [APC] in Nasarawa state has revealed the financial recklessness of the state lawmakers. Speaking through the state chairman of the party, Philip Tatari Shekwor, the APC stated that the members of the Nasarawa legislators squandered a whooping sum of N7.783.455.173.00 in just three years.
The state chairman of the APC stated this during a press conference held at the press centre in Lafia. He stated that the N7.8bn was inclusive of a suspicious constituency allowance of N2.4bn and N4bn as salary.
According to the APC, the Economic and Financial Crime Commission [EFCC] has become interested in the activities of the lawmakers. The EFCC is reported to have quizzed some of the members. Some of the members are still under investigation by the anti-graft agency, said the chairman.
Philip Shekwor added that people of Nasarawa state are anxiously waiting for the outcome of the EFCC investigation and consequent prosecution of the lawmakers. “Their lifestyles are as nauseating as they are repugnant, they own the biggest mansions and estates in the state and ride on a chauffeur cars, they owned the best castle and procured the best hotel in the state capitalโ. He added.
โCan these be the crops of representatives that the people of Nasarawa state braved the elements to vote for? What moral right do they have to undertake this serious adventure without the consent of their constituencies? The members that lived a profligate lifestyle and abandonment?โ
“The estranged members are just like pot calling kettle black, they are like chichi dodo insect that hates dirt but feeds on excretaโ. Despite the lingering impeachment plot, the chief executive continue to exhibit Good Governance to the people of the state”
The APC accused the current minister of information, Labaran Maku and ousted Governor of the state, Aliyu Akwe Doma of spearheading the impeachment process. “Instead of joining hands to contribute to the recovery of the state from the precipice of under development they are plotting to drag the hands of the clock in a reverse order“.
The chairman said it was the misrule of the PDP that placed the state in a fast lane of stunted growth among other vices.
