Imo State Government House Owerri
Press Release
In its concerted efforts to achieve massive construction of asphalted rural roads in Imo State, the government has captured for construction over 500km of roads in the phase 2 of the rural road project to be completed before October 2014.
The Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha disclosed this in his message to Imo people on the state of rural roads across the 27 Local Governments of the State.
Owelle Okorocha said that apart from the provision of free and qualitative education, improved health care delivery services and infrastructural transformation of the State, his administration had promised to open up the economy of the rural communities by embarking on aggressive construction of asphalted roads across the 637 Communities of the State.
He noted that about 500km had been completed in the phase 1 of the rural road project, while the phase 2 would be completed before the end of October, 2014
The Governor who appealed to communities whose roads were not captured to be patient as more roads would come up in the phase 3 of the project, urged Imo people to embark on independent monitoring of the projects and report back to government on any lapses by the contractors.
He however expressed displeasure over the action of some contractors who abandon their jobs and equally warned miscreants who molest contractors working in their areas to desist from such acts and support government good intentions.
Owelle Rochas Okorocha thanked Imo people for their continued support of the Rescue Mission government and assured more democracy dividends to Imo people.
